Save the Dates for Another Great Season!

The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce our program for the 2018-19 year, and it is going to a be a great season of firsts. At COP we are pleased to be performing works that are unique in the great music scene of Pittsburgh — masterpieces that rarely make it to the stage, composers who have been overlooked, and new compositions. Our 18-19 season succeeds on all counts!

Three programs feature premieres. The fall includes two world premieres, a special privilege for any ensemble, as COP plays new piano concerto by Nancy Galbraith and a new symphony by Chris Massa. In the spring we will perform the Pittsburgh premiere of a moving violin concerto by celebrated composer Jeffrey Nytch.

As always, the season also has its share of rarely presented masterpieces. Highlights include Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, Debussy’s Piano Preludes arranged for string orchestra, Jennifer Higdon’s Quiet Art, and Bartok’s Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, which many consider among his finest work. We wanted to let everyone know of our dates, so that you could mark your calendars now.
